Renewing the Countryside

Bonnie Warndahl is a Farmland Access & Transfer Specialist with Renewing the Countryside, a
certified Farm Succession Coordinator with the International Farm Transition Network, and a
certified Agriculture Focused Financial Planner (AFFP) through University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign. She serves farmers and farmland owners across Wisconsin, Minnesota,
and the Upper Midwest. Through her work with the Farmland Access Hub, Bonnie supports
beginning and emerging farmers in securing land tenure while also guiding retiring farmers and
landowners through thoughtful farm transition and succession planning. Her work focuses on
preserving working lands, strengthening local food systems, and helping ensure farmland
remains in the hands of the next generation of agricultural stewards.
Drawing from her own lived experience as a 1st-generation farmer navigating the challenges of
farmland access, Bonnie brings both professional expertise and practical understanding to her
work. Beginning her farming journey in 2013, she has owned and operated Winnowburrow Farm
& Florals, a cut flower farm and agritourism business in the rolling hills of Wisconsin’s Red
Cedar River Valley. Her firsthand experience overcoming barriers to land access gives her a
grounded, empathetic approach when helping clients navigate financing, land searches,
succession conversations, and long-term farm viability.
Bonnie is widely recognized for her advocacy around farmland transition, regenerative
agriculture, and equitable access to land for new and underserved farmers. She regularly
facilitates workshops, educational events, and one-on-one coaching focused on farm
succession, land matching, and creative land access strategies. Through partnerships with
regional organizations and initiatives, Bonnie works to cultivate resilient agricultural communities
by connecting people, resources, and opportunities that support the future of farming in the
Midwest and beyond.
