Director, National Agricultural Land Network
Cris is Director of the National Agricultural Land Network—a network American Farmland Trust created in 2020 to build the capacity of planners, farm and conservation organizations, land trusts and state and county agencies to help stem the loss of working farm and ranch land.. Cris is also AFT’s Senior Policy Advisor, helping to guide AFT’s policy and advocacy work around agricultural land protection, land access and farm transfer and succession. Cris’ deep policy experience includes serving as professional staff for conservation and forestry on the Senate Agriculture Committee and as legislative assistant and Chief of Staff to U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl from Wisconsin. The current Farm Bill reauthorization is the SEVENTH Cris has worked on. She is hoping Congress will finally get it right and she can retire.
